Dr Joris Heyman

Since completing his PhD in Switzerland (2010-2014), Dr Heyman has explored various environmental fluid mechanics problems involving non-linear coupling between fluids and grains, with application for sediment transport, granular avalanches and porous flows. His work combines advanced experimental techniques for measuring fluid and grains dynamics, numerical computations for deeper physical understanding, and probabilistic theories to model the fluctuations produced by such complex and coupled mechanical systems.
