Full Research Professor Michele Chiumenti has a PhD in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) as well as B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Civil Engineering. He is a Full Professor in Continuum Mechanics (UPC) and a Researcher (Industrial processing group) at the International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) . His research interests include FE technology for the incompressible limit, strain-localization and tensile cracking, constitutive modelling for coupled problems including phase-change, numerical simulation of industrial manufacturing processes such as metal casting, Additive Manufacturing (AM) and Frictional Stir Welding (FSW).
