Prof. Jesus Cerquides

Jesus Cerquides is Senior Researcher at the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research. He is actively conducting research in the areas of probabilistic graphical models and multi-agent systems. Formerly he was head of iSOCOLab, Chief Technology Officer and member of the board at Intelligent Software Components and Associate Director at UBS IT Research Lab. He obtained his MSc in Informatics (1995), PhD in Artificial Intelligence (2003) from Technical University of Barcelona and his degree in Maths (2011) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Prof. Cerquides has led industrial and academic research projects in the areas of machine learning and multi-agent systems in the last twenty years. He is actively publishing in the main conferences and journals in these areas. He has successfully advised five PhD students as well as several MSc. Students. He has served as associate editor for the Electronic Commerce Research and Applications journal and currently for the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research. He has served in the program committee of several first level conferences such as IJCAI, ECML or AAMAS and workshops such as PGM, AMEC, GTDT, and OPTMAS. He has reviewed papers for the most relevant artificial intelligence journals. He has acted as reviewer for the EU, Spanish and Czech research
programmes.
Currently, he is PI of the EU project Crowd4SDG (2020-2023) on the application of AI and citizen science for the measurement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs. He is also PI on the HumaneAI-net EU network to start on September 2020 and co-PI of the Spanish project CI-SUSTAIN on mixing optimization and machine learning to reach the SGDs
