Dr. Josep Mª Del Bas

Dr Josep M del Bas holds two BSc in Chemistry and Biochemistry and a PhD in nutrition and metabolism. His expertise is the interactions between food nutrients and bioactive compounds, mainly polyphenols, and metabolism, with particular interest in a holistic assessment aided by -omics and systems biology. He has been researcher in University of Milan (Italy), The Baylor College of Medicine (Texas, USA) and University of Liverpool (UK) from 2006 to 2009. In 2009 he joined the technology center of nutrition and health (Spain) as senior researcher. In 2018 he became the director of the Unit of Nutrition and Health in Eurecat, technology center of Catalonia. In 2022, he became the Research manager of the Biotechnology Area in Eurecat. As a result of technology transfer activities, he has participated in more than 100 R&D projects for industry. He has been principal investigator of European projects such as PREVENTOMICS, published more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals and directed two doctoral theses.
