Professor Dr.-Ing. Thomas Niendorf

Dr.-Ing Thomas Niendorf holds a full professorship at the Institute of Materials Engineering – Metallic Materials at the University of Kassel. During 2010 – 2014 he was Head of the Fatigue Working Group at the University of Paderborn´s Chair of Materials Science. From 2012 – 2013 he has served as the Deputy Head of this Chair. In addition, he has served as the Head of an Emmy Noether Junior Research Group since during 2014-2015 at the Institute of Materials Science, TU Bergakademie, Freiberg.

The research activities in the department Metallic Materials in Kassel University focus on processing-microstructure-properties relationships, whereby fundamental and application-oriented issues are addressed in a balanced manner. Special focus is on the analysis of surface layers, residual stress distribution, thermomechanical fatigue, additive manufacturing and shape memory technology.
